Keeping up with The Cantelmo's: Remember

Remember

I remember when I reconnected with
my now husband at Starbucks.
It had been years since we had seen each other.
I was feeling anxious because I was running late as usual.
When I saw him, he was warm, forgiving (because I was late) and sweet. We talked for hours,
catching up and reminiscing over old times.

I remember the way he smiled and how I loved hearing his love for others. He talked about his life, family, church, teaching, and mission trips he had been on.

He even showed me that his iphone was way better than my Blackberry. I was sold on him, but not quite sold on the whole iphone thing.

We had planned to only get coffee, but ended up going out to dinner. He took me to one of his favorite restaurants. I remember ordering a pizza, but the only thing I focused on was him. He was talking and had a cute little smile.

After our date, I went home to tell my dad all about it. I “googled” Anthony, so my dad knew what he looked like. I was giddy and excited. I knew he was special.

I remember how we slowly got to know each other again. He was respectful, kind, and loving. He valued his family and he valued me. He listened and was sensitive. He cared about my heart and cried when he heard about my pain.

He would pray over me and remind me of what God thought of me.

The other day, I came across an email that I wrote before we got married. I want to keep this email forever because I always want to remember what made me fall in love with my husband in the first place.

These aren't in any given order :)

1. His smile
2. His love for others and all the things he does for other people
3. He can always make me laugh and I have SO much fun with him
4. His love for family and how committed he his to his family and our family
5. How he helps me and surprises me (like bringing me different things that I need or doing something around the house) and also helping with the girls - he is a GREAT dad.
6. And so many more but you said only 5
okay and one more....his heart and how he is so open with sharing it (if that makes sense)

In summary:
1. He has a great smile
2. He loves others/ servant
3. He is funny
4. He is committed to our family
5. He is thoughtful
6. He has an amazing heart and is transparent

God, I pray that when times are tough and life gets hard. You will help me remember my love for my husband.

I so appreciate this tender, loving testament to gratefulness for what the Father brings. I love your heart and your encouragement, in these beautiful words, to choose love, to appreciate the people and relationships in our lives. Thank you.

My husband got reconnected at Starbucks too after having been broken up for a year and were no longer really friends. The feelings came rushing back and we knew that we either needed to begin dating again with the intent of marriage or just completely call it quits. We were married a year and half later.
Great post! It sounds like you married a great man!
