Happy 30th Birthday Anthony!

Today is Anthony's 30th Birthday.
I'm so excited to celebrate HIM today.
Yes that means going to all the places he loves to eat at and seeing some scary movie he picked out for us to see. But I'll do it because I love him so much.

I am so blessed by you. I love you so much.
You are an amazing husband and dad.
The kids just adore you.
I love how creative and talented you are.
You are so smart and half the smart things
you say go way over my head.
I love to cuddle you and laugh at your silly (non sarcastic) jokes.
I love your heart for others and how you'll do so much for others.
I love your sensitive soul and your ability to own it when you make mistakes.
Thank you for fighting for me and loving me.
Thank you for taking care of the kids and thank you for going through so much work to adopt Grace because you love her so much!

I love you!

Did you hear the news?

Is it a boy or girl?

I can not wait to find out if the baby is a boy or girl!
I love bonding with the baby before they are born.
Picking out their name and it's meaning.
Buying clothes and starting their baby book.
I count down the days until the ultrasound.
The ultrasound where they tell us if it's a boy or a girl.
This time I don't want the tech to just blurt out the baby's gender.
I want her to write it on a piece of paper
and find out the baby's gender with our family.
I don't want to do a gender reveal party because it's too much work.
I was thinking of getting a cake made saying
"You're having a little brother/sister"
"It's a boy/girl"
And then opening the cake box together with the kids.
Or I may just go to the store,
pick out a cute girl outfit and a cute boy outfit and have the lady wrap up whatever the outfit is and
we will open it together as a family.
Here are some fun ideas I've seen on Pinterest:
I LOVE this idea - put pink or blue items in the piñata to reveal the gender

Did you do anything special to reveal the gender of your baby?
I'd love to hear all about it!

Do you believe in old wives tales?

Baby is on my brain.
Food too but mainly baby.
Besides praying for the baby to be healthy.
I've been dying to know if the baby is a girl or a boy.
Since I have two girls and one boy either sex would be fine by me.
Since all my boy clothes are handy, having a boy would be nice.
And the baby could share a room with Luke.
Sometimes I think this baby is a girl because with both Olivia and Grace I threw up all the time and had bad morning sickness and with Luke I was nauseous but never threw up.
I totally don't believe in all old wives tales.
But I think it's fun to take silly online quizzes to see if I'm having a boy or a girl. Yes, I am silly.
I took the Chinese Gender test and according to that I'm having a boy. But the test also said that all of my kids should of been boys. HA. That's obviously not true.
This cute blog researched a few old wives tales and I thought it would be fun to share them with you.
I've bolded my answers.
Maybe you can guess if I'm having a boy or a girl!!

1.            Do you crave the heals of bread or the middle?
Heals: Boy
Middle: Girl
2.            Hands Chapped/Dry or Softer?
Chapped: Boy
Softer: Girl
3.            Eating more or sick/nauseated?
Eating more: Boy
Sick: Girl - and eating tons!!!
4.            Can people tell you are pregnant from the back?  Or are you pregnant all over?
Just from back:  Boy
All over: Girl
I don't know?
5. Which breast is bigger during pregnancy?
Left: Boy
Right: Girl
They're equal?
6.            Who was more aggressive at the time of conception?
Husband: Girl
Wife: Boy
I'll skip that one!
7.            During the pregnancy, have you been crabby or happy?
Crabby: girl
Happy: boy
8.            Carrying low or high?
Low: Boy
High: Girl
All of my pregnancies I carry high - too early to tell right now
9.            Do you crave sweet foods or sour/salty foods?
Salty/Sour: Boy
Sweet: Girl
10.              Is the heartbeat high or low:
High: Girl
Low: Boy
11.              Which side do you lay on when resting:
Left: Boy
Right: Girl
12.            During the pregnancy, have you been clumsy or graceful?
Clumsy: Boy
Graceful: Girl
13.            Show me your hands.
Shows them palms up: Girl
Shows them palms down: Boy
14.            Has the husband put on weight during the pregnancy?
Yes: Girl
No: Boy
15.              Pick up a single key.
Picks it up by the long narrow part: Girl
Picks it up by the round part: Boy
Picks it up in the middle: Twins
I didn't do this one because I'm too lazy to get off my booty.
16.              Did the older sibling say Mom or Dad first?
Mama: Girl
Dada: Boy - all my kids said dada first

So what do you guys think? Is baby number four a boy or a girl?
When you were pregnant did you just know it was a girl or boy?
Or were you wrong?

Challenging 2's

Parenting is the hardest job I’ve ever done.
Exhausting is an understatement.
Now I understand why my parents were so tired while I was growing up.
One of the harder stages (and I’m sure the teen years will be hard too)
is the two year old year.
I remember going through this with Grace and now we are going through the terrible challenging two’s with Olivia.
I remember when Olivia was a little baby and Anthony would say how well behaved she was. I would tell Anthony, “Oh you just wait…..”
It’s easy to know why God made our kids so darn cute? Right?
Look at this face. How can I not adore her?
She does the cutest most adorable little 2 year old.
Olivia has a pretend friend, loves Minnie Mouse and
can’t get enough of animals and the Fresh Beat Band.
She loves to dance and do forward rolls.
She also challenges almost every single thing we tell her to do.
She won’t wear her shoes.
She kicks and screams when she doesn’t get her way.
And she tests and tests her boundaries.
She has learned to say, “I don’t like that.” “I don’t want that.”
And we can’t leave her by the front door because she has learned to escape.
Anthony and I love Olivia. So we correct her.
Over and over again.
We pray for lots of patience.
And we do it everyday all day long.
We set boundaries because it makes her feel safe.
We teach her how to act.
We pick our battles.
We praise her when she does when she does the right thing.
I try to help Olivia identify how she is feeling…frustrated, sad, upset or angry.
If she lashes out in anger she gets a consequence.
If she is just having a hard time using her words for how she’s feeling we try and help her come up with the words to use.
Usually this reduces or ends her tantrum.
If she is throwing a fit because she wants to wear polka dots and no hair bow.
I give in. It’s not a battle worth fighting.
My Olivia loves getting dirty.
Climbing, jumping, running, and taking all her clothes off. That’s her thing.
If she is safe and inside our home. I let her be a kid.
I don’t want to stifle her personality just because she’s a busy little bee that keeps her dad and me on our toes.
So everyday we hang in there because this is just a stage.
It’s a stage where she’s learning to push our family rules.
It’s a stage where she’s learning to express how she feels about life and it takes time for her to learn to use her words to do that.
It’s a stage where Anthony and I are learning how to parent Olivia
the way that works for Olivia.
I have learned that each of my children’s personalities are incredibly different. It’s a blessing that they are different! And it keeps me on my toes and relying on God.

How did you survive a difficult parenting stage?

maternity must haves for summer

I'm preparing myself for the evil
Arizona summer heat.
I already know what's to come.
Swollen hands and feet.
Feeling so hot that I could just jump into a pool filled with ice water.
And sweating....oh the sweating.
So I picked out a few things that I will need to endure the summer in the last trimester of my pregnancy.
I hate wearing bathing suits while I'm pregnant but I'm already preparing myself that I will be spending the majority of the summer in the pool.
It's called survival.

Breakfast Casserole AKA Ham and Cheese Soufflé

One of Anthony's favorite things at Christmas is when his mom makes breakfast casserole.
I had never had a casserole like this until
Christmas at the Cantelmo's.
Most of the breakfast casseroles I have tried
had bacon, eggs, hash browns and cheese.
This one is almost like a cheesy bread pudding.
It's very rich and very good!
I made it the other night for the first time.
Here's how it turned out:

Here's the recipe if you care to try it:
Happy eating!

Strange Arizona Weather

This past week I was wearing short sleeves. Some of the days the high was almost 90!
Then this past weekend it started to rain Saturday night.
And it rained and rained. Thankfully because we needed it!
And then on Sunday it all of a sudden started to hail.
We opened our windows and all of us sat and watched.
The hail actually stayed on the ground and turned into snow.
